WebMay 3, 2005 · i always liked my 38 even with the worn in, needed to be relapped heads. its a pita to align. its a pita to wire up RCA snakes. i used gp9 and had endless problems with tape shear, but never lost any recordings because of it. 1/2" 8trk is a noisy format, but who cares! the dbx noise reduction is a bad idea and causes a whole other list of problems.
